Change
I’m a planner; a better safe than sorry, second-guessing decisions, Excel spreadsheet control freak. My routines help me feel in control, and I really want to believe I am. In addition, I am very risk averse and I despise the unknown. A lot of the time, I have to force myself to embrace new things.
And what’s so great about change? Connecting the dots is an exercise afforded exclusively in hindsight; going into something new, it is impossible to know the outcome. I can hazard a guess, albeit usually an informed one, but I can’t know for sure. And that is what I dislike.
However, a lot of decisions that seemed monumental and life-changing at the time will fade — most of them quicker than you think. All it takes is that you keep going. After all, a fork in the road will disappear in the distance and blend into the landscape. Soon enough, it will be just that: a dot.
Trying to force time to slow down is a fruitless cause. The world is never settled, and change is inevitable. All you have to do is decide how to act in the face of it.
I guess.
